We've survived our first week back to school. I've been so used to vacation, it's hard! Can we go back to Florida, please? Andy only has classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays which leaves the rest of the week for working and his internship that he starts tomorrow! He's going to be a career counselor at Madison Jr. High; he'll be helping the students with their graduation and college plans. I may be bias, but I think he's perfect for the job! He just loves to work with youth, and he's so amazing at it. Me, on the other hand. I have class every day, but it's in the mornings which leaves me time to work at the press in the afternoon. It's so wonderful working across the hall from Andy! We're even taking a Family class together and learning so much!
On Monday it was Andy's birthday, so I decided to break out my new mixer and make his birthday cake from SCRATCH! Oh yes, brave. His favorite cake is yellow with chocolate frosting. It turned out really well! I made both the cake and frosting from scratch: success!
Last night we decided to have some fun and go to the demolition derby with Andy's good friend Tyler and my good good good friend Shayla. It was SO MUCH FUN! We love going to the derby, it brings out our inner redneck. Plus, I want to drive in the derby SO BAD!! How could you not love cars smashing into each other?
Today we decided to go for a nice small hike up R mountain, which is pretty much just a small mountain that is really an ancient volcano. Considering most of Rexburg and the rest of Idaho is close to Yellowstone National Park, we're all living on an ancient volcano. Talk about living the dream!
And Andy caught a lizard! He wanted to bring it home with us, but ultimately decided that the wild is probably a better home for him. What a good man (a lizard in our house didn't sound too intriguing to me)
Jack loved the hike, and we did too! I wish we could trust him off of his leash, but we haven't quite gotten that far. It was such a beautiful day! And if you know anything about Rexburg, you know you have to take advantage of the sunny days while they last!
For a Jack update, he is improving so much! He's finally learning fetch and we can have him off of his leash when we're out on the lawn, but if he sees another dog he takes off running. He's really starting to get comfortable with us and into our schedule. Every morning at 7:30 (which is when we usually need to wake up) he sits in his kennel and just wines non stop until we get up. We have our own living alarm clock! He's also gotten some new nicknames, some better than others. We have recently discovered that he sometimes thinks he's smaller than he is, and sometimes he's a cat.
Can you tell who his favorite is? Jack's that is.
Jack has an all time favorite toy, but it's turned into an outside toy. It's a snake that has not one, but 5 different squeakers in it. Hence the outside use. It get's a little obnoxious.
Notice, no leash! We're slowly upgrading!
He loves tug-o-war with Andy! He can get some serious air. He's still not very coordinated so he falls....a lot. It's kind of hilarious.
We just got internet in our apartment, so hopefully I can update more often so these dang posts aren't so long! Hopefully the next update will be pictures of our home!
